Prof. Tualar Simarmata
Dr. Simarmata obtained his Ph. D. in 1993 from Institute of Applied Microbiology and Environment of Justus Liebig University Giessen, Germany. Completed postdoctoral studies in 2000 from Justus Liebig University, Germany. Currently is a Professor of Faculty of Agriculture Universitas Padjadjaran. Prof. Dr. Tualar Simarmata, was selected as one of the Top 10 Innovators Indonesia in the National Innovation Competition held by South Tangerang Global Innovation Forum (NIC-TGIF) 2016, September. Prof. Tualar along with 9 other innovators was chosen based on innovation research to support the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Indonesia. In the competition, Prof. Tualar won an award for his efforts in developing the “Innovation-Based Controlled Aerobic Rice Intensification Organic” (IPATBO). IPATBO technology has been developed by Prof. Tualar since 2006. This technology is a production technology innovations through integrated rice paddy and soil health restoration. The process uses a technique of twin seedling combined with water saving technology and integrated organic and bioresources (biomelioran) based nutrients management. This technique is said to be able to save the seeds, conserve water usage, improve fertilizers efficiency and soil health and as well as to increase rice productivity significantly, Since 2007, he has appointed as a Professor for Soil Biology at Agriculture Faculty of Padjadjaran University Bandung-Indonesia. He has served from 2009–2015 as the Head of Experimental Station and Extension Farm for Food Crops, from 2014-2016 as the Head of Soil Biology and Biotechnology Laboratory and from 2015-2016 as the Director of Innovation, Academic Corporate and Bussiness at Universitas Padjadjaran. Currently, he is a senior lecturer for Sustainable Agriculture, Organic Farming, Biofertilizer Technology, Agricultural Microbiology and Biotechnology. He has participated actively in International Seminars/Conferences and has published his scientific papers in peer reviewed national and international journals and proceedings. He was a co-chairman of the 5th Asian PGPR International Conference for Sustainable Agriculture in Bogor, Indonesia from July 16-19, 2017. Since 2017, he has been elected and apointed as Vice President of Indonesian Chapter of Asian PGPR.
